The year was 2002: after the devastating forest fires in Europe, a handful of dedicated firefighters wondered how they could manage to help abroad as a German fire brigade, despite the federal structures in Germany. The birth of @fire. On 1 December 2002 @fire is officially founded.
In 2022, @fire can look back on a history of more than 20 years - from the founding idea to a recognised and internationally active aid organisation with several hundred members. In many large and small steps, the volunteer members pursue the vision of the network and of fast, competent and non-political disaster relief.
