The trainÂing at @fire takes place in stages and is specialised in the specialÂist areas.
The first basic course is the ID (InterÂnaÂtional DeployÂment) course. The particÂiÂpants are introÂduced to the variÂous activÂiÂties of the assoÂciÂaÂtion and gain imporÂtant knowlÂedge for their interÂnaÂtional work. Before startÂing, the particÂiÂpants complete the online course BSAFE of the United Nations, which provides inforÂmaÂtion on the correct behavÂiour during missions for the UN and teaches the correct proceÂdure in dangerÂous situations.
In the specialÂist areas of debris rescue and vegeÂtaÂtion fireÂfightÂing, there are basic trainÂing courses and specialised further trainÂing courses. In the basic trainÂing courses, particÂiÂpants learn all the basic skills that are required for operÂaÂtions. NumerÂous specialised courses are offered to learn even more advanced techniques.
For medically trained emerÂgency personÂnel (e.g. emerÂgency paraÂmedics and paraÂmedics) @fire offers a Medic course, which suppleÂments the particÂiÂpants’ existÂing skills with special features, espeÂcially in rubble rescue. Finally, the care of people trapped for several days and the lack of a high-qualÂity medical infraÂstrucÂture in terms of clinÂics and rescue equipÂment require some special features.
FurtherÂmore, there are several courses for leadÂerÂship tasks in operÂaÂtions, staff work, for rescue dog handlers as well as for work with helicopters.
In addiÂtion to reguÂlar trainÂing abroad (for examÂple in Great Britain), there are irregÂuÂlar interÂnaÂtional courses, for examÂple on tropÂiÂcal and expeÂdiÂtion mediÂcine on the MediterÂranean island of Malta or a course on medical care for earthÂquake victims in Miami, USA.
