Der Countdown hat begonnen - nur noch wenige Tage bis die deutsche Hilfsorganisation @fire vom 19. bis zum 25. November 2021 als weltweit erstes internationales Light-Team nach den Standards der International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) der Vereinten Nationen klassifiziert wird. Dazu durchläuft ein 22-köpfiges Rettungsteam eine mehrtägige Großübung in der Schweiz, die von Beobachtern bewertet wird.
Die INSARAG koordiniert und standardisiert als Organisation der Vereinten Nationen die internationale Zusammenarbeit im Bereich Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), also die Suche und Rettung nach Naturkatastrophen, wie Erdbeben oder Überschwemmungen.
Alle Rettungsteams müssen sich einer External Classification (IEC) in einer der drei Klassifizierungsebenen - light, medium oder heavy USAR-Team - unterziehen. In Deutschland sind bisher das Technische Hilfswerk (THW) als Heavy-Team und die Hilfsorganisation “ISAR Germany” als Medium-Team klassifiziert.
Die Klassifizierungsebene “light” wurde mit den Erkenntnissen des Rettungseinsatzes nach dem Erbeben in Nepal 2015 innerhalb der INSARAG erarbeitet. Als weltweit erste Hilfsorganisation durchläuft @fire ab Ende der Woche die Klassifizierung als Light-Team.

The countdown has started; there are only a few days left until the german NGO @fire will be classified as the world’s first international light team according to the standards of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) of the United Nations from the 19th until the 25th of November. For this reason, an 22-member rescue team will go through a large-scale classification.
As an organisation of the United Nations, INSARAG coordinates and standardises international cooperation in the field of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), i.e., the search and rescue after natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods. All rescue teams have to go through an External Classification (IEC) in one of the three classification levels - light, medium, or heavy USAR team. In Germany, the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) has been classified as a heavy team and the NGO “ISAR Germany” as a medium team so far.
The classification level “light” was developed within INSARAG based on the findings of the rescue operations after the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. As the world’s first disaster relief organisation, @fire will go through the classification as a light team starting at the end of the week.
