Due to an extensive forest fire at the Brocken, AirOps specialists from @fire were requested by the district of Harz to provide support.
Since Sunday afternoon, our task forces have been on site to support the municipal task forces in fighting the fire, together with the forest fire team.
The focus of our work is on the management of the operational section air for the coordination of firefighting water releases.
8 fire-fighting helicopters from the Federal Armed Forces, Federal Police, Provincial Police and the company HeliAustria as well as the 2 fire-fighting aircraft from Italy, which were requested via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, are being coordinated.
