In a joint rescue operยญaยญtion with the rescue teams SARAID (UK), SARUV (AT) and AKDF (TR), the Light USAR team of @fire (DE) was able to save another human life in Kahraยญmanยญmaraล on Friday evening. A 15-year-old girl was located under the rubble of a collapsed house this afterยญnoon. With combined forces, the rescue operยญaยญtion began. The helpers dug a tunnel into the mounยญtain of rubble. In the evening hours the relievยญing news: The girl could be saved alive. More than 110 hours after the earthยญquake, this borders on a miracle.
Throughยญout the day, @fireโs 40-member search and rescue team was out in the heavยญily damaged city, checkยญing several collapsed homes for possiยญble survivors. In the mornยญing, one of the rescue dogs had struck a pile of rubble. Techยญniยญcal locatยญing equipยญment and addiยญtional rescue dogs were then deployed. However, the assumpยญtion that there was a survivor was not confirmed.







With each passยญing hour, the likeยญliยญhood of rescuยญing people alive from the rubble dwinยญdles. Neverยญtheยญless, @fireโs search and rescue team continยญues tireยญlessly to search for buried victims. Rescue dogs and techยญniยญcal equipยญment are used non-stop to search for survivors in the numerยญous collapsed buildings.
Meanยญwhile, a small @fire team indeยญpenยญdently runs the Reception/Departure Center (RDC) at Adana Airport. The three @fire staff members have their hands full there, regisยญterยญing and coorยญdiยญnatยญing the arrival and deparยญture of the now more than 120 interยญnaยญtional teams. The RDC is a central compoยญnent in the coorยญdiยญnaยญtion of interยญnaยญtional aid under the umbrella of the United Nations Interยญnaยญtional Search and Rescue Adviยญsory Group (INSARAG).The Sector Coorยญdiยญnaยญtion Cell (SCC) in Kahraยญmanยญmaraล was also able to be supported by the @fire forces with IT equipยญment and supplied with an Interยญnet connecยญtion via satelยญlite. The SCC coorยญdiยญnates local search and rescue operยญaยญtions in the provinยญcial capiยญtal of 665,000 inhabยญiยญtants in the southยญern part of Anatolia.
